Irene in Vermont

This little video was shot not far from my house.  I run across this bridge every week as it's part of my four mile loop.

  1. My thoughts and prayers are with Vermont as well. I was in Woodstock for the weekend, took a day trip to Brattleboro on Friday in fact, and can not believe the devastation from Irene.

  2. The covered bridge were my son was married last week in Arlington, Vermont washed away yesterday...exactly one week to the day.
    Heartbreaking.
Have you seen photos of Wilmington?

  4. Its terrible. When leaving Woodstock this morning my jaw was on the ground. There was an entire section of Route 4 closed; the farmer's market we go to, that just expanded, had been underwater and the parking lot washed away. I pray everyone can come back from this. Glad you're safe!

  5. Barb, I've been thinking of you. We were miraculously spared here in Glens Falls, but it seems that the storm and flooding did so much damage just to the north, the south, and east, so I consider us extremely lucky. My heart goes out to you and all the people in Vermont, Troy area, Lake Placid area, etc etc. that were hit so badly. So sad.

  6. Thanks for your thoughts, Phyl. I'm glad you missed the storm and are safe as well.
I just cannot imagine what this storm would have done if it were a category two storm.
The flood walls in the video are more than twenty feet high. I guess I know now what a flash flood is.

  7. it's terrible to the see the floods. We had devastating floods in Queensland, Australia. May God give strength and courage to those who are affected.

  8. Anna I am just looking at some photos of Queensland and it looks remarkably similar to what we experienced here...especially the force and color of the water. I hope you are well on your way to recovery.
